The TSB2598 chip provides a solution for adding smart card support
to a wide variety of OEM products.
IC solutions are easy to implement since all the electrical specifications
and low level protocols addressed in the ISO-7816 and EMV level 1
standards are built into the devices.
OEMs can now get their smart card-enabled products to market quickly
and focus the design effort on the high level S/W applications and
drivers specific to the product.
The TSB2598 is controlled by a host processor through a standard serial
UART or SPI interface. It takes care of all the actions required by
the ISO-7816 and EMV level 1 standards at the card interface and manages
the communications to the smart card.

- ISO-7816 compliant
- Supports asynchronous protocols T=0 and T=1
- Support for synchronous IC cards
- Compliant with EMV (Europay, Mastercard, Visa) standards for
e-commerce transactions
- Microsoft PC/SC compatible software drivers available at no
additional cost
- Full smart card interface control including automatic activation
and deactivation sequences, thermal and short circuit protection,
ESD protection, and card detection / movement sense with H/W de-bounce
- Standard serial host interfaces for communication and control
UART host interface with up to 115K baud data transfer speed SPI
slave host interface
